Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about EV rebates and incentives

Why did the iZEV rebate program pause early?

The iZEV federal EV rebate was originally set to end on March 31, 2025, or when funds were fully allocated. Due to increased interest in electric vehicles across Canada, all funds were committed ahead of schedule. The program officially paused on January 12, 2025.

Does the pause affect other EV rebate programs?

No. The iMHZEV rebate for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles and all provincial electric vehicle rebate programs remain active. The iZEV pause applies only to the light-duty passenger vehicle program.

Can I still get rebates for EV charging infrastructure?

Yes! Many provinces and utilities offer rebates specifically for EV charging infrastructure. These programs are separate from the vehicle rebates and continue to be available. Contact us to learn about charging infrastructure incentives in your area.

What if I ordered my EV before the pause?

If your dealership submitted the iZEV eligibility application and it was approved before the pause, you will receive the rebate—even if your vehicle is delivered later. Contact your dealership to confirm your application status.

Are leased electric vehicles eligible for rebates?

Yes! For the iMHZEV program, leases of 12+ months qualify, and rebates are prorated for leases under 48 months. For example, a 24-month lease gets 50% of the full EV incentive. Provincial programs may have different lease terms.
